SMS Business Unit Manager Travis Gains and chief pilot Shaun Lawson attended the She Maps Teacher Professional Learning Workshop at McClelland College in South East Melbourne.
She Maps is a Certified Social Enterprise with a focus on increasing the diversity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
She Maps runs STEM edutainment programs in schools and online, supporting both teachers and students.
Its most popular program is the Drone Roadshow, where students are given the opportunity to fly a drone and become a geospatial scientist for the day.
Travis and Shaun presented the Industry Professional Showcase to teachers and participated in the classroom drone sessions.
“It was great to see how She Maps is raising awareness of STEM careers through this drone education program,” Travis said
“It was good fun and I learnt about push/pull coding a drone, which was really interesting.”
In their presentation, Travis and Shaun showcased the latest technology that SMS utilises.
The teachers experienced Augmented Reality by using the Trimble Site Vision and laser scanning with our Trimble X7.
